GOODYEAR THEATER: THE GOLDEN SHANTY (TV)

Summary

One in this dramatic anthology series. This seriocomic episode stars Errol Flynn as patent-medicine salesman Cedric "Doc" Boatwright. Doc and his assistant, Herman (McCallion), return to the town where they had sold a supposedly worthless gold mine to Adie and Mike Walker (Barry and Hansen). Doc discovers that the bricks from which the Walkers's saloon is constructed contain gold and conspires to buy back the land from the Walkers. Doc's plan backfires when Mike overhears Doc romancing Adie and encourages Doc to take her away with him. Commercials deleted. Series title varies; as "Goodyear TV Playhouse," 1951-1955; as "Goodyear Playhouse," 1955-1957. "Goodyear Theater" was syndicated under the title "The Award Theatre."
