ELVIS: '68 COMEBACK SPECIAL {EXPANDED HOME VIDEO VERSION OF "SINGER PRESENTS ELVIS"} (TV)

Summary

This home video version of the 1968 televised concert special showcases "the King," Elvis Presley. Marking Elvis's return to live performances, the program is centered on a small, intimate stage, where a leather-clad Elvis and a small rock band perform a nostalgic repertoire of songs, including the following: "Heartbreak Hotel"; "Hound Dog"; "All Shook Up"; "Can't Help Falling in Love with You"; "Jailhouse Rock"; "Don't Be Cruel"; "Love Me Tender"; "Are You Lonesome Tonight?"; "That's All Right"; "Tigerman"; "Trying to Get to You"; "One Night with You"; and "Memories." Additionally, the Blossoms join Elvis for a choreographed gospel medley featuring the following songs: "Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child"; "Where Could I Go But to the Lord?"; "Up Above My Head"; and "Saved." The program continues with an elaborate production number in which Elvis plays a musician who leaves his small town, lands a job in a house of ill-repute, and eventually finds success as a nightclub crooner. Selections for this portion include the following: "Nothingsville"; "Guitar Man"; "Big Boss Man"; and "Trouble." The special concludes with Elvis singing "If I Can Dream."

(This is not the original broadcast version. This program is an expanded home video version of "Singer Presents Elvis," which was originally broadcast on NBC-TV on December 3, 1968.)
