MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E., THE {THE MAN FROM UNCLE}: THE POP ART AFFAIR (TV)

Summary

One in this series of tongue-in-cheek spy dramas about superagents Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin of the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement. In this episode, a disgruntled THRUSH agent reveals a secret to Solo and Illya about a poisonous hiccup gas that is going to be mass produced by THRUSH. Waverly decides to send Illya undercover as a beatnik to Greenwich Village to find out more about the gas. The THRUSH agent was wearing a pendant which may be the main lead to the other THRUSH agents making the gas. Illya asks around the beatnik hangouts whether anyone knows any information at all. A young artist, Sylvia, loves the pendant Illya is wearing and won't leave him alone about it. Illya goes to a gallery owned by Mark Ole, which happens to be THRUSH headquarters for this project, and is captured -- but not before he gives the pendant to Sylvia. Ole is after the pendant because it is the catalyst for the hiccup gas. Solo realizes that Illya may be in trouble when he can't contact him and goes to the Village to find Illya. Solo also runs into Sylvia and sees the pendant around her neck, which means she knows Illya and perhaps his whereabouts. Ole and his agents realize that Sylvia has the pendant, which means that Illya is no longer of any use to them. In a secret room, Illya is about to be suffocated by a foam-making machine, until Solo comes to his rescue. They begin to search for Sylvia, who has made copies of the pendant in order to sell them. Ole gets a hold of the original pendant, which is the only one that can make the gas work, and Solo and Illya must stop him before he can control the art world and society. Commercials deleted.
