LADY BLUE: DEATH VALLEY DAY {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The premiere in this series about a bold, female Chicago detective. A brutal rape/murder is the latest in a string of crimes committed at a notorious housing project. Detective Katy Mahoney asks to be assigned to the case even though she is not familiar with the area where the housing project is located. Mahoney soon finds that the case will be harder to crack than she thought because the majority of the tenants live in fear of a ganglord named Banger, and they refuse to cooperate with the police. An older woman named Pearl, and a young man named Christopher, who are both fed up with Banger's reign of terror, speak with Mahoney secretly. However, nothing can really be kept secret from Banger since he has a large network of spies. Before the police can get warrants to search Banger's apartment, or find any information they can use to return him to prison, Christopher is nearly beaten to death and Pearl's daycare center mysteriously goes up in flames. However, neither Pearl nor Mahoney are willing to let Banger's gang overrun the project. Pearl attempts to organize concerned tenants, and Mahoney prepares for a face-off with Banger. Banger responds by shutting down the housing project so that the tenants are unable to receive any outside help. Unfortunately, more lives are ruined before Mahoney finally confronts Banger. However, due to the sacrifices of a few individuals, the community gets a chance to rebuild itself. Includes commercials, promos, and a news brief with Carole Simpson. This program is closed-captioned.
