Summary
One in this series of late-night talk/variety programs hosted by David Letterman. At the start of the show, Letterman notes that it is "Camera Night," and has director Hal Gurnee demonstrate the thirteen different cameras which will be in use throughout the show. Highlights include the following: the Top Ten List features "Top Ten Unpleasant Things to Hear in an Elevator"; there is a Dumb Ads segment; "NBC Nightly News" anchor Tom Brokaw discusses the new robotic cameras being installed in the news studio and his recent interview with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev; a Roy Orbison-garbed "Kenny the Gardener" (Calvert DeForest) arrives with a wheelbarrow full of plants, and performs "Blue Bayou"; Belinda Carlisle sings "I Get Weak" and talks with Letterman about her Grammy nomination and her former pet pig.
