JACK BENNY PROGRAM, THE: JACK BECOMES A SURGEON (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series starring Jack Benny. In this episode, Benny and Rochester attempt to clean out Benny's attic which is full of junk that he can't seem to throw out. Even if the item is broken, he refuses to let Rochester throw it away. The one item they find which surprises Rochester is Benny's application for medical school. When Benny leaves Rochester in the attic to finish cleaning up, Rochester dozes off and dreams what it would have been like had Benny become a surgeon. In the dream, Benny is preparing for an operation and a doctor from Vienna, Dr. von Strunheimer, is there to observe the procedure. Benny shows Dr. von Strunheimer his method of putting the patient to sleep without anesthesia and then begins the operation. Benny and the nurse, however, don't notice that there is one small problem about to happen until it is too late. Despite the problem, the operation is a success and it paves the way for the future of medicine. Commercials deleted.
