Rick Mandler
Vice President, Strategy and Digital Media Sales, ABC Television Network

Rick Mandler, vice president, strategy and digital media sales ABC Television Network is part of the management team responsible for all advertising sales for the ABC Television Network, with a focus on digital sales.  Overall, Mandler’s role is to help the sales division navigate through the technological and business developments affecting media today.Previously, Mandler was Vice President, General Manager, Enhanced TV for the Walt Disney Internet Group (WDIG), responsible for all business development, production, technical, and integrated sales for Enhanced TV fare produced for all Disney-owned broadcast and cable network programming.  Mandler assumed that position in March of 2001.Prior to running Enhanced TV, Mandler had been vice president of WDIG Local and Broadcasting.  In that position, he was responsible for developing and managing the Internet efforts of the ABC Broadcasting properties, including ABC-owned television and radio stations across the country, ABC Radio Networks, and the localization of WDIG’s Internet businesses. Earlier, Mandler was vice president, new media for ABC Broadcasting after serving as general manager, new media for ABC Radio Networks, where he had operational and strategic responsibility for the ABC Radio division's Internet efforts. Mandler joined Capital Cities/ABC, Inc. (now ABC, Inc.) in 1992 as a general attorney.  He was named director of business affairs for ABC News in 1994, where he was responsible for negotiating talent and business agreements. Prior to coming to ABC, Mandler was an associate at the New York law firm of Patterson, Belknap, Webb and Tyler from 1989 to 1992, and a law clerk for the Honorable Leonard I. Garth, United States Circuit Judge for the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, from 1987 to 1989. The winner of two Emmy’s for interactive television, Mandler is a graduate of Wesleyan University and New York University Law School.   He is the co-author of “TV for the 21st Century, The Video Ad Model in Transition” in Transitioned Media:  A Turning Point into the Digital Realm (Einav, 2010).

Joe Marchese
President, Advanced Advertising, Fox Networks Group

Joe Marchese is President of Advanced Advertising Products at Fox Networks Group (FNG), a role in which he leads operations in non-linear advertising products and services for 21st Century Fox’s global portfolio of channels.

Mr. Marchese was appointed to his current position after the company he founded, true[X], was acquired by 21st Century Fox (21CF) in 2015.  true[X], the leader in engagement advertising technologies, is now a part of the Advanced Advertising Products division that Mr. Marchese oversees.

Recently tapped as a 2016 Media Maven by Advertising Age, and listed at #38 of the Variety Gotham 60, it's clear that Joe is considered by many as a leading entrepreneur and one of the more progressive, provocative thought leaders helping to shape the future of advertising and media.

Prior to true[X], Mr. Marchese spent several years as a television executive at the cable network Fuse TV, where as SVP of Digital and Advertising he led consumer marketing, digital and multi-platform development.

Joe is also the Founder and Chairman of the reservation and payment app, Reserve and the NYC based tech studio, Human Ventures, and currently serves on the board of trustees of the Paley Center for Media and the Board of Directors of the Tribeca Film Institute.

Mr. Marchese holds a B.A. in Economics and Finance from Bentley University. He lives in New York with his wife Christie and their dog, LV.

Brent Montgomery
Founder and CEO, Leftfield Entertainment

Brent Montgomery is founder and CEO of media, entertainment and production company Leftfield Entertainment. Established by Montgomery in 2013, The Leftfield Entertainment portfolio currently encompasses Leftfield Pictures (Pawn Stars), Sirens Media (Real Housewives of New Jersey), Loud TV (Tiny House Nation), Outpost Entertainment (PBS’ Icons) and most recently Riot Creative. In May 2014, ITV Studios acquired Leftfield Entertainment.
Montgomery’s flagship Leftfield Pictures is best known for producing the breakout hit – now franchise – Pawn Stars, which delivered record ratings for History when it premiered in 2009, and spawned the “hidden treasures” genre of programming. The show continues to dominate its time period and has birthed spinoffs including hit game show Pawnography, series Counting Cars and American Restoration, as well as international formats in the UK, Australia and South Africa, with more territories pending. Other Leftfield Pictures series include Blood, Sweat and Heels for Bravo, Alone for History, Cutting It for WEtv and Football Town: Barrow Alaska for NFL Network.
As CEO of Leftfield Entertainment, Montgomery continues to expand his company’s footprint in all content and production arenas, through new partnerships, joint ventures, acquisitions and producer deals.  He is a founding member of the Non-Fiction Producers Association (NPA) and a member of its board of directors.

James Murdoch
CEO, 21st Century Fox

James Murdoch is Chief Executive Officer of 21st Century Fox, the world’s premier portfolio of cable, broadcast, film, pay-TV and satellite assets.  Mr. Murdoch, 42, has held a succession of leadership roles over his nearly two-decade career with the Company, culminating in his appointment to CEO in 2015. Over that period, he has been a key driver of the Company’s domestic and international expansion, having most recently served as Co-Chief Operating Officer, and previously as Chairman and CEO for Europe and Asia, as well as Chairman of BSkyB, Sky Deutschland, and Sky Italia, the businesses that now comprise the pan-European Sky group.   His significant operational experience also includes tenures as CEO of both BSkyB and STAR, India’s number one entertainment broadcaster.

As 21st Century Fox’s Co-Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Murdoch had a broad purview across the Company’s global portfolio of businesses, and direct responsibility for its cable and broadcasting networks and properties, which reach more than 1.8 billion subscribers every day.  From 2011 to 2014 he served as Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Chairman and CEO, International, and prior to that, Chairman and CEO, Europe and Asia since 2007.               

Mr. Murdoch has played an integral role in a number of strategic transactions, including the separation of the former News Corp into two distinct Companies, the combination of the Endemol Shine Group joint venture, the acquisition of the YES Network, and, through the creation of Sky Deutschland and the combination of Sky Deutschland and Sky Italia and BSkyB, the creation of the European entertainment leader Sky plc.

During his tenure as BSkyB’s Chief Executive Officer (of which 21st Century Fox owns 39.1%) from 2003 to 2007, and its Chairman from 2007 until 2012, the Company experienced transformative growth, amassing more than 10 million subscribers, and created a full-service residential media and telecommunications company. 

Mr. Murdoch led 21st Century Fox’s partial acquisition of the former Premiere AG and from that the creation of Sky Deutschland, which was valued at €6.6 Billion upon its combination with BSkyB and Sky Italia in 2014. In addition, he led the restructuring of the Company’s European and Asian businesses between 2008 and 2010, including the separation of its Asian satellite television group, STAR, into India and ex-India operations, and the sale of the company’s Russian and Eastern European media holdings.

Mr. Murdoch became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of STAR in 2000 and led the company’s turnaround and by 2003, the company established itself as the premier content and broadcasting company in India, South Asia and Taiwan.  Prior to joining STAR, Mr. Murdoch held a variety of corporate roles at News Corporation between the time he joined the Company in 1996 and 2000, primarily focused on digital businesses.

Before joining the Company, Mr. Murdoch co-founded and chaired Rawkus Entertainment, a seminal Hip Hop independent based in lower Manhattan. Mr. Murdoch serves as a board member of 21st Century Fox and Sky, and of News Corp.  In addition, he is a non-executive director of Yankee Global Enterprises, Vice Media, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Harvard Lampoon and the Ghetto Film School. He and his wife Kathryn founded their family foundation, Quadrivium, in 2014. Quadrivium supports a variety of initiatives involving natural resources, science, civic life, childhood health, and equal opportunity.

Jennifer Nason
Global Chairman, Technology, Media & Telecommunications Investment Banking, J.P. Morgan

Ms. Nason is the firm’s Global Chairman of Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT) Investment Banking based in New York. Ms. Nason has been with J.P. Morgan for 29 years having joined the Melbourne, Australia office in 1986. After an initial period working in Asia as part of the Project Finance team she relocated to New York where she spent several years in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group. In 1998 Ms. Nason joined the TMT group within Investment Banking as head of the Telecommunications practice with a focus on strategic M&A, debt and equity financing for the firm’s key relationships in this sector.

Today as the Global Chairman of the TMT Investment Banking practice, Ms. Nason is responsible for traditional and emerging clients across the technology, media and telecom sectors globally. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, Ms. Nason spent three years with the Department of Management and Budget in Australia as an infrastructure project analyst.

In 2014, Ms. Nason was a Member of the Australian Government Panel charged with reviewing the Australian financial system. Ms. Nason currently Chairs the Board of the American Australian Association and is a Member of the Economic Club of New York and the Partnership for New York City Innovation Council. Ms. Nason has a B.A. and B.Com (Honors) from the University of Melbourne in Australia.

Joe Ripp
Chairman and CEO, Time Inc.

Joseph A. Ripp became Chief Executive Officer of Time Inc. in September, 2013. Time Inc. is one of the largest media companies in the world. Its influential brands such as Time, People, Sports Illustrated, InStyle and Real Simple reach more than 130 million people each month across multiple platforms. Internationally, Time Inc. owns one of the largest publishers in the U.K., Time Inc. UK.

A former top Time Inc. and Time Warner executive, Ripp spent many years immersed in the intersection of digital, advertising and publishing. Prior to returning to Time Inc., he was the Chief Executive Officer of OneSource Information Services, Inc., a digitally focused marketing and information services platform that provides online business information and sales intelligence solutions.

Ripp began his media career at Time Inc. in 1985, and held several executive level positions there and at Time Warner over the course of nearly 20 years. Ripp first joined Time Inc. as Assistant Comptroller and was elevated to Senior Vice President, CFO and Treasurer of Time Inc. in 1993. Ripp then served as Executive Vice President and CFO of Time Warner Inc. from 1999 to 2001, when he became CFO of America Online. In 2002, Ripp was named Vice Chairman of America Online where he oversaw advertising, technology, operations, marketing, human resources and legal until he left the company in 2004.

After leaving Time Warner in 2004, Ripp was President and COO of Dendrite International, a leading provider of sales, marketing, clinical, and compliance solutions for the global pharmaceutical industry. From 2008 until 2010, he served as Chairman of Journal Register Co., owner of more than 50 newspapers and over 350 multi-platform products. In 2010, Ripp entered into a partnership with GTCR, a leading private equity firm, to form Cannondale Investments. In 2012, GTCR and Cannondale Investments acquired OneSource Information Services, Inc. and Ripp became its CEO. Ripp was a member of the Board of Directors of Greenfield Online until it was sold to Microsoft in 2007. He has also served on the Boards of Whittle Communications and American Express Publishing. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Manhattan College and the Board of Directors of the Advertising Educational Foundation. He also serves as Vice Chairman Lighthouse Guild in NY and an Emeritus Director of the Ad Council. Ripp holds an M.B.A. from the Bernard M. Baruch College of the City University of New York and a Bachelor of Arts from Manhattan College.

Andrew Robertson
President and CEO, BBDO Worldwide

Andrew Robertson has been President and Chief Executive Officer of BBDO Worldwide since June 2004. 

BBDO Worldwide adds value to its clients’ brands and businesses through its focus on “The Work, The Work, The Work.”   It has been named Network of the Year at Cannes five times and is currently the world's most awarded agency network according to The Gunn Report and the Most Creative Network across all communications platforms in the Directory Big Won.  Since 2005, BBDO has been honoured as Global Agency of the Year in Ad Age, Adweek (two times) and Campaign (four times).  In 2011, BBDO Worldwide was also recognized as the Most Effective Network in the world by the Global Effies.

Andrew first came to BBDO in the UK in 1995, joining Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO where he subsequently served as Chief Executive.  In 2001, he moved to BBDO North America to serve as President and CEO. 

He began his advertising career at Ogilvy & Mather, London as a Media Planner.  He switched to Account Management and was appointed to the Board of Ogilvy & Mather in 1986.  In 1989, he joined J. Walter Thompson and in November 1990, was appointed Chief Executive of WCRS.

Andrew has a degree in Economics from City of London University.  He currently serves on the Boards of Autism Speaks, the Center on Media and Child Health, the International Rescue Committee and Wake Forest University Business School.  He is a past Chairman of The Advertising Council. 

Dan Rose
Vice President of Partnerships, Facebook

Dan Rose is the Vice President of Partnerships at Facebook. Dan is globally responsible for Facebook’s mobile partnerships, platform developer relations, business development, M&A and community operations.

Dan joined Facebook in 2006 after seven years at where he held various positions in business development and general management, including his last role where he helped incubate and develop the Amazon Kindle. Dan earned a bachelor’s degree at Harvard University and attended the University of Michigan Business School for one year before joining Amazon. Dan currently sits on the board of REDF.

Jane Rosenthal
Cofounder, Tribeca Enterprises

Jane Rosenthal co-founded Tribeca Productions/Tribeca Film Center with Robert De Niro and has distinguished herself as a leading producer with films including The Good Shepherd; Meet The Parents; Meet the Fockers; Rent; About A Boy; Analyze This; Wag the Dog; A Bronx Tale; and has executive produced CBS’s “NYC 22”; HBO’s Inside Out: The People's Art Project; The Education of Dee Dee Ricks; Remembering The Artist Robert De Niro, Sr; and ESPN’s Nine for IX series.

In 2001, in an effort to spur the economic and cultural revitalization of lower Manhattan, Rosenthal co-founded the Tribeca Film Festival, which has since attracted more than 5 million visitors and generated over $900 million dollars in economic activity. Rosenthal also co-founded the Tribeca Film Institute, where she has served as co-chairman of the board since its inception. The Institute has become an instrumental resource for filmmakers and arts education, and reaches over 25,000 New York City public school teachers and students.

Rosenthal is co-founder and CEO of Tribeca Enterprises, a diversified media company formed to provide artists with unique platforms to expand their audience and to broaden consumers’ access to independent film and media.

Prior to founding Tribeca Productions, Rosenthal was an executive at CBS-TV and The Walt Disney Company. She is a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences and is an active leader on the boards of the Tribeca Film Institute, the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at The World Trade Center, the Child Mind Institute, and the NYU Tisch School of the Arts Dean’s Council.

She has been honored by The Museum of the Moving Image, Tisch School of Arts at NYU, The Matrix Award, and The National September 11th Memorial & Museum and has received  the Jane Jacobs Medal for Lifetime Leadership from The Rockefeller Foundation and The Monteblanc  de la Culture Arts Patronage Award for her passion and commitment for arts and culture.
