In our current information age, the shortened news cycle and relentless need to feed the media machine has made the job of the topical comedy writer much harder than it has ever been. Poor bastards. The Paley Center for Media and the New York Comedy Festival convene a panel of some of the biggest names in comedy writing to discuss their plight, crack wise at the moderator, and possibly discuss the challenges and opportunities for comedy in this brave new world.

Rory Albanese, Executive Producer, The Daily Show
Jim Downey, Writer, Saturday Night Live
Al Jean, Executive Producer, The Simpsons
Peter Tolan, Cocreator and Executive Producer, Rescue Me
Additional panelists to be announced.
Moderator: Virginia Heffernan, Internet Culture Columnist, The New York Times Magazine
