TV Land achieved its highest ratings ever with its first original scripted series, Hot in Cleveland. In its debut season Hot was also the most popular sitcom on cable. And critics were enthusiastic too about the comedy revolving around three over-forty Los Angeles residents: writer Melanie (Valerie Bertinelli), stylist Joy (Jane Leeves), and soap opera queen Victoria (Wendie Malick), who end up in Cleveland when their Paris-bound airplane makes an emergency landing. After realizing that the residents of the Ohio city are less concerned with the superficial than LA, the trio decides to rent a house that comes complete with feisty caretaker Elka (the inimitable Betty White). The veteran and esteemed cast has been honored with two 2011 Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.
