U.S. Premiere of Reckonings
Program 7:00 pm • Reception 9:15 pm
The Paley Museum, 25 West 52 Street, NYC
The Paley Center is pleased to present the U.S. premiere of Reckonings, an illuminating documentary about a crucial time after the Holocaust. Reckonings aptly documents and analyzes how delegations from Israel, the Claims Conference, and Germany struggled to solve the impossible in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles: Material reparations for the unspeakable crimes committed by Nazi Germany against European Jews.
After the screening, a panel of experts and the filmmaker will discuss the historical implications of the first reparations after the Holocaust and explore why this negotiation for compensation is still relevant today, seventy years later, in the quest to combat antisemitism.
This program is made possible by generous support from Shari Redstone, Aryeh and Elana Bourkoff, and The Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
Additional support provided by The David Berg Foundation.
