Star Chamber: A Play by Noel Coward
2:00 PM ET
American premiere of the Noel Coward play Star Chamber starring Tammy Grimes, John Shea, Frances Sternhagen, KT Sullivan, and directed by Antony Marsellis.
Food for Thought Productions's next event is a staged reading of Star Chamber by Noel Coward, a comedy which takes place on the stage of a West End theater. Very funny and very Coward, this delightful one-act directed by Antony Marsellis will feature a Broadway cast—including Tony Award–winning actress Frances Sternhagen, who will step into the shoes of a cast from the 1930s. In fact, Hester More, whom Coward writes has a manner that "is vague to the point of lunacy," is literally introduced by her sopping wet shoes which seem to preoccupy her. Though, she explains, once she begins acting nothing preoccupies her. "Nothing puts me off really once I start, because I shut off absolutely everything, but the getting to the shutting-off is sheer misery—you have to mean so much yourself before you can begin to make the play mean whatever it ought to mean—you see what I mean?" Join us and you will see what she means!
Star Chamber will be followed by a Q&A with the cast and a reception.
