GOOD WIFE, THE: BOOM {LETTERBOX} (TV)

Summary

A rough cut of one in this drama series about a Chicago lawyer who returns to work after her politician husband is embroiled in a public scandal. In this episode, Alicia and her fellow attorneys deal with a case involving a religiously-motivated bombing. A newspaper editor who published a cartoon considered offensive to Muslims was killed, and his wife seeks punitive damages, leading the team to look into who else was responsible for the publication. They soon learn that the newspaper purposefully sought to publish a controversial image, and it takes Kalinda’s careful research to discover who drew the cartoon, as well as the motivation behind the bombing. Once in court, Alicia takes advantage of her knowledge of Stern’s medical condition to help her case against him.

At the same time, Stern moves forward with his attempts to “poach” lawyers from Lockhart & Gardner. Cary finds himself tempted by an employee of Stern’s who is also an old flame, but tells Will the truth and says he was never considering the offer. Julius, however, says the firm is in danger and asks Lockhart to match Stern’s offer. She agrees, in exchange for the names of the other lawyers approached by Stern.

Elsewhere, a housebound Peter seeks solace in a pastor's counsel, to the confusion of both his legal team and his mother. He soon learns that a friend, Gerald Kozko, intends to testify against him in his upcoming trial, and uses a church service as an opportunity to have a heated confrontation with the man. Alicia witnesses the scene and considers it the last straw, telling Peter that he has not changed and that she is through caring about their relationship. In a moment of desperation, Peter chases after her, breaking the rules of his house arrest and putting his future in even more jeopardy. Commercials deleted.
