PRIVATE PRACTICE: YOURS, MINE & OURS {SECOND SEASON FINALE} (TV)
Summary
The second season finale in this medical drama series spun off from "Grey’s Anatomy" that chronicles the lives of Dr. Addison Montgomery and her friends and fellow doctors at Oceanside Wellness Group in Los Angeles. In this episode, Cooper, Sheldon and Pete are all concerned by Violet's overdue pregnancy, and Pete is disturbed to see Katie's sunny disposition in the wake of her miscarriage, wondering if she has gone off her medication. Morgan notices the sparks between Addison and Noah and demands to know if they are sleeping together, and Naomi is shocked to find that Zoe and Amelia's embryos were switched, meaning that they are carrying each other's babies. The doctors argue about who is to blame for the mix-up, and Addison decides to call Duncan for legal advice. Charlotte recruits Cooper to help her "stalk" William, determined not to lose the Pacific Wellcare Center job to Naomi. Zoe and Amelia are greatly upset to learn of the switch, and though Zoe wants to terminate and "start over," Amelia tells her that she has no further chances to have a child of her own and cannot give up. Violet seems unconcerned about Katie's "euphoria," and Pete and Sheldon have an awkward run-in, still waiting to hear whom Violet has chosen.
Addison and Noah agree that they "covet" one another and must tell Morgan so, and Pete declares that he loves Violet and wants to have a family with her, but she turns him down, much to her own surprise. Duncan urges the doctors to fire Dell for the embryo mix-up, though a reluctant Addison merely assigns him to desk work, and Katie obsesses over Violet's pregnancy during a therapy session, though swears that she is still on medication. Morgan apologizes to Addison, who cannot bring herself to admit the truth about Noah. Naomi tells William that she is no longer a strong candidate because of the Zoe/Amelia debacle, but he offers her the job nonetheless, overheard by an angry Charlotte. She confronts Cooper for standing her up, and Duncan leaves when Naomi states that Amelia is not yet ready for legal action. Naomi tells Addison that she is considering the job offer, still upset about her tumultuous year with the practice and Sam, though Addison urges her to stay. Heather visits Dell and offers to "give him" Betsey in exchange for $10,000, clearly for drugs, and Amelia tells Addison and Naomi that she cannot let go of the idea of having a biological child when she is so close to her goal.
Violet chooses Pete after all, realizing that he makes her truly happy, and Sam grows angry when Naomi continues defending Dell, finally admitting that he is still in love with her. Katie arrives at Violet's house and injects her with a paralytic, declaring that Violet "stole" her baby, while elsewhere Zoe states that she cannot let Amelia keep her child. Charlotte presents William with several letters of intent and then tells Cooper that she no longer needs him, tired of his always putting Violet first. Addison and Noah's romantic moment is interrupted when Morgan goes into labor, though Addison eventually assigns Dell to deliver her baby instead. Violet tries to reason with Katie and begs her not to hurt the baby whom they both love, and Zoe finally agrees that she and Amelia will carry one another's child to term. Sam tells Dell that he understands the pain of losing a loved one and gives him the $10,000, though Dell opts not to give it to Heather and instead demands custody of Betsey on the grounds of safety. William informs Charlotte that she is qualified but too heartless for the position, and Sheldon realizes that Violet has chosen Pete and sadly asks him to "take care of them." Naomi informs Sam that she has taken the Pacific job, and a distressed Charlotte calls Cooper just as he arrives at Violet's and he leaves, unaware of the situation inside. Knowing that she will likely not survive it, Violet begins talking Katie through the Cesarean. Includes commercials and promos.
