COUGAR TOWN: YOU DON'T KNOW HOW IT FEELS (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about the misadventures of an eccentric, wine-loving group of friends, lovers and family in Gulfhaven, Florida.

In this episode, Jules prepares for a Halloween visit from her "redneck" dad Chick, and Ellie and Andy, busy struggling through Stan's preschool application, inform irresponsible Bobby that he has been "relieved of his duties" as their kid's back-up guardian in light of his split with Jules. Laurie resolves to reignite Travis' interest in Halloween now that he is in college and apparently "too cool" for the holiday; Jules, also not a fan of Halloween, admits that her late mother was the "bridge" between herself and the emotionally distant Chick. Andy and Ellie discover that Bobby is in fact golf buddies with the headmaster of a particularly desirable preschool, and Jules is surprised to find that her down-to-earth father has actually bonded with "vain little dandy" Grayson. When Chick continues dodging personal time with his daughter, however, Jules angrily tells him to leave her home.

Jules' friends advise her not to bother trying to change her father's ways, and Ellie and Laurie arrive at Grayson's Halloween party dressed as one another; Jules, dressed as a princess, realizes that she somewhat misunderstood Grayson's "Prince" costume. She is disappointed to learn that Chick has left for home, and as Barb shows up in one of her typically revealing costumes, Ellie reappoints Bobby as Stan's guardian upon learning that he did, in fact, talk to the headmaster. Laurie is delighted when Travis gives in and shows up at the party as Andy. Jules finally has a heart-to-heart with Chick – who actually attended Grayson's party in a bear costume – and learns that he has found it difficult to be alone with her since his wife's death, as she reminds him strongly of her mother. He assures her that he is not her "only family," as she has clearly formed strong bonds with her oddball friends. The two finally express their heartfelt emotions for one another. Later, Laurie exacts strange revenge on a greedy trick-or-treater. Includes commercials and promos.
