MODERN FAMILY: NOT IN MY HOUSE (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series, a "mockumentary" about the eccentric individuals comprising three inter-related families in Los Angeles. In this episode, Haley accuses Alex of reading her diary and Claire is shocked to learn that Luke has been looking at "smut" on the Internet, though Phil privately admits that he is to blame. Elsewhere, Gloria is exasperated by the presence of "Barkley," an ostentatious "dog-butler" statue purchased by Jay. As Cameron and Mitchell prepare to take Lily to a puppet show, they notice that their gardener seems distraught, and despite Mitchell's protests, Cam attempts to comfort the man with his rusty Spanish. Phil assures Claire that he will talk to Luke about his actions in private, and Gloria and Jay argue about Barkley when Jay accuses her of disliking "him." Alex eagerly asks Claire about Luke's latest misdeed, though Phil simply hangs out with his son for a while and then tells Claire that he has promised to keep their "guy talk" between the two of them. Mitchell accuses Cam of being a "help-a-holic" who cannot stop himself from getting involved in other people's problems, and a bride and her parents soon arrive at the house as well.

When Mitch complains to his father, Jay points out that they both chose partners who are different from them and that their relationship problems are decidedly minor. As Haley and Alex's fight escalates, Luke admits that he was the one who read Haley's diary, and Mitch returns home to Cam and apologizes, only to find that the gardener and his bride are having their ceremony right in the house. Luke "confesses" his actions to Claire, though she misunderstands and is alarmed by his comment about Haley, but the truth comes out and everyone soon realizes that Phil is the true culprit. Claire forgives him, however, and admits that she wants her youngest child to stay "innocent" for the time being. Jay brings Barkley over to Cam and Mitch's as a "gift," though Gloria walks in on the post-wedding scene and draws a strange conclusion. Phil explains the mix-up to Luke, though ends up providing a bit too much information, and Mitch soon decides that he too is tired of Barkley and heads for a thrift shop, with Cam providing Barkley's farewell monologue. Includes commercials and promos.
