LATE LATE SHOW WITH CRAIG FERGUSON IN SCOTLAND, THE: PALEY CENTER VERSION (TV)

Summary

One in this late-night talk show series hosted by self-deprecating comedian Craig Ferguson. Guests include actress Mila Kunis, actor Michael Clarke Duncan, actress Rashida Jones, Arial Tweto of the "Flying Wild Alaska" documentary series, author David Sedaris, and musical guest band The Imagineers. This episode is one of several shot in Scotland, Ferguson's home country. After a musical number ("Scottish Table-Stomp"), and travel to Scotland via the TARDIS from "Doctor Who," he begins at Glamis Castle in eastern Scotland and explains some of the history of the important site, including the mystery surrounding its supposed "secret room" and about the Lyon family, who own the place. Afterwords, Ferguson does some fishing in the town of Arbroath with Geoff. He visits the Glasgow Necropolis with Kunis, where they have a discussion about death and zombies, and Ferguson shows her a monument dedicated to John Knox, founder of the Church of Scotland. Next, Ferguson visits his hometown of Cumbernauld, just outside of Glasgow. Along with Duncan he visits the Spur Hotel in his old neighborhood, where he recounts the story (via a "dramatic reenactment" with child actors) of how thirty years ago he inadvertently angered a local tough guy and got himself beaten up, permanently injuring his finger. Back in Arbroath, Ferguson takes a walk on the beach with Jones and "finds" a message in a bottle written by his ten year-old self. At the Tron Bar in Glasgow, Ferguson holds the Late Late Show before an audience, featuring his guest Tweto. He talks to her about her experience in Scotland and her father's airline in Alaska. He then asks her a question for the "Big Cash Prize" (here called the "Big Scottish Prize"), the subject being local Scottish food terminology. Instead of cash, Tweto is awarded a tin of Scottish shortbread. Ferguson is then joined by Tweto, Jones, and Sedaris in Glamis Castle for the "Evening Crumpets" segment, where they have a discussion over tea and crumpets. Their topics include different methods of praying before a meal and Sedaris meditating on his potential eventual need for a colostomy bag. Back at the Tron Bar, the Imagineers put on a performance of their song "Imagineer." Tweto joins Ferguson on a plane for a brief "High Life" sketch. Commercials deleted.
