GCB: A WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING {SECOND HALF ONLY} (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about a not-so-saintly group of Dallas women whose lives are upended by the sudden return of a newly widowed former high-school rival. This asset features only the second half of this episode.

In the first half, the ladies are shocked when Amanda dares to wear trousers to church, and Gigi decides to throw a homecoming party for Carlene's Uncle Burl and Aunt Bitsy, who have made a surprise return to Dallas after a two-year "missionary" trip. Blake recruits Amanda to help him relaunch a retired clothing line, "Westward Ho" jeans, and Heather resolves to keep Andrew around by helping him find the perfect piece of land for his company. Pastor Tudor advises a still-squabbling Sharon and Zach to a try a one-week, in-house separation in order to better appreciate one another's contributions to the home; Sharon decides to spend her newfound free time "assisting" the pastor however possible. Blake and Cricket are pleased with Amanda's suggestions for the jeans, particularly when she calls in a few Boobylicious co-workers to serve as models. Carlene, wishing to build "condos for Christian living," schemes to get her hands on the 500 acres that Burl wishes to "offload." As Gigi plans her "dress as your favorite Texan" theme party, she catches Carlene snooping around Amanda's belongings for proof of Bill's potentially faked death.

Sharon is annoyed when McKinney seems to enjoy her dad's laidback, maid-free parenting style; when Amanda figures out Blake's secret, she assures him that she "doesn't judge." Relieved, Blake suggests that Amanda should be welcomed into "their circle," but Cricket vetoes any idea of excessive "female bonding." Burl confesses to Gigi that his health is poor and pleads with her to bury the hatchet with Bitsy, whom she dislikes. Ripp tries to convince a worried Carlene that they are not "breaking Number Eight" by stealing Amanda's computer, but are instead getting justice for Bill's various victims. Sharon is delighted with herself when she manages to build a shelf for Pastor Tudor, but Caruth-Reilly lands in hot water when an anonymous religious blogger stirs up outrage over the suggestive name of the "Westward Ho" jeans. Feeling at fault for the company's potential loss, Amanda recruits Andrew to help her track down the Internet culprit.

The asset picks up as Heather challenges Carlene over the sale of Burt's land, pointing out that her plans to build Christian-only condos violates the Fair Housing Act. Carlene is further shocked when she catches Landry in a very personal moment with his laptop and frets that she is being divinely punished for investigating Amanda's past. Amanda gets the idea to change the jeans' slogan to "Westward Hosannah," but at the costume party, she is stunned to learn from Andrew that the blogger who sparked the controversy was none other than Cricket. Carlene has a surprising heart-to-heart with Amanda and decides that Bill really is dead after all; Bitsy, fearing that Gigi is on Burl's "bucket list," declares her intentions to leave Dallas with him. Burl sells the land to Andrew's company, earning Heather a substantial commission, and Sharon, dressed as entrepreneur Mary Kay Ash, informs Zach that she plans to continue explore her newfound independence beyond their week-long trial. Amanda, realizing that Cricket jealously guards her "deep friendship" with Blake despite the non-traditional nature of their marriage, decides to quit her consultant role at Caruth-Reilly. None of the party guests notice that Bitsy has choked to death on a spare rib. Includes commercials.
