MODERN FAMILY: OPEN HOUSE OF HORRORS (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series, a "mockumentary" about the eccentric individuals comprising three inter-related families in Los Angeles. In this episode, on Halloween, Claire forces herself to utilize more "family-friendly" decorations for the house and is annoyed when Phil suggests that she is "not scary" anyway. Mitchell realizes that Lily took his offhand comment about her mother being a faraway princess to heart and wonders how best to tell Cam of his faux pas, and Jay worries that he is losing his charm when he fails to talk his way out of a traffic ticket. Manny accidentally sets off the fire alarm at school and urges "hothead" Gloria not to overreact, and Claire finds that trick-or-treaters are fearfully skipping her house, all too aware of her fondness for gruesome pranks and effects. Phil shows off an open house as Gloria chases off some rude teenagers, and Manny is wracked with indecision when the "cool kids," grateful for the fire alarm, invite him to join their mischief.

Cam attempts to show off his newly slim figure at their Halloween party as Lily searches the guests for her "mother," and Claire takes advantage of Phil's fear of the empty house to prove her scary factor once and for all. Another guest upstages Cam with his own weight-loss success, and Gloria begins to fear that she is carrying an "angry baby" who is causing her mood swings. Phil frantically searches the house for Claire as he attempts to impress a prospective buyer, and when Cam finally catches wind of Lily's confusion, he and Mitch try to explain their accidental white lie, telling her that her unknown mother wished her to be with a loving family. Jay is relieved, and oblivious, when the "princess" at Cam and Mitch's party flirts with him, and Claire successfully terrifies Phil with the help of their children. Gloria finally gets her revenge on the rude teens – not realizing that she has accidentally egged her own son. Includes commercials and promos.
