DARK SHADOWS: FOUR SCENES & THE BEST OF BARNABAS (TV)
Summary
This program contains four scenes from "Dark Shadows," the gothic daytime serial about the Collins family of Collinsport, Maine, which aired from 1966 to 1971, followed by a compilation of scenes showcasing one of the show's main characters, Barnabas Collins, in "The Best of Barnabas."
The four scenes, from the 1969-1970 storyline in which Barnabas falls under the control of the Leviathans, are: Megan in the Collinwood courtyard calling Barnabas a traitor to Jeb and the Leviathan's cause, after which Barnabas bites her; Megan being declared dead by Julia after Barnabas bites her again at the Old House; Roger trying to comfort Megan -- now a vampire -- in the woods about the death of Philip, which she uses as an opportunity to attack him; and Roger fighting with Willie and Julia before Willie knocks him out and stakes a screaming Megan in her coffin.
"The Best of Barnabas" is introduced by actor Jonathan Frid (Barnabas), which leads to scenes which include: Julia telling Barnabas that he has reverted to his actual age of 175 after her experiments to cure him backfired; Mrs. Johnson meeting Barnabas -- having recently escaped from his coffin -- upon his arrival at Collinwood; Barnabas biting barfly Audrey on the Collinsport docks; Barnabas offering a wistful goodbye to Josette; Angelique admitting her culpability to Barnabas about having Roxanne's wounds reopened; Judith questioning Barnabas's obsession with his portrait; Joshua shooting Barnabas, then being amazed that his son is impervious to bullets; Barnabas telling Vicky and Carolyn about the legend of Josette's death on Widow's Hill; Quentin seeking Barnabas's help to escape the werewolf's curse; Barnabas telling Magda to delete his traces from the crypt as Carl now knows his secret; Willie telling Barnabas that Vicky is going to marry Burke Devlin, after which Barnabas says he'll kill Burke; Abigail screaming as she sees Barnabas rise from his coffin; Burke and Barnabas discussing their mutual dislike of each other at the Blue Whale; Tom trying to bite Barnabas, who has come to his lair just before daybreak to destroy him; Roxanne surprising Barnabas with her return; Barnabas meeting Laura, then telling a shocked Millicent that he knows Laura died a century ago; Barnabas plotting to bite Maggie, despite misgivings about his plan; Julia telling Barnabas that Vicky may know his secret after having returned from the past; Barnabas threatening Lamar with revenge, having escaped from his basement prison; Vicky going to Barnabas in her bedroom as he prepares to bite her; Barnabas returning to the Old House screaming for Willie; a vengeful Angelique interrupting as Josette tells Barnabas that she's questioning their future; and Barnabas reciting "I'll Be With You, Always" as a montage depicts Josette receiving a music box from Barnabas, Julia discovering Collinwood destroyed after going to the future, Barnabas dealing with the ghost of his sister Sarah, Barnabas raging inside his chained coffin, Angelique pretending to comfort Barnabas, Barnabas staring at Josette's portrait, and Barnabas seeking victims outside the Old House's cobwebbed parlor window.
