IT'S A MANN'S WORLD: SHE'S THE MANN (TV)

Summary

One in this reality television series about actor David Mann and his family.

Tamela prepares to go for her knee surgery despite her continued resistance to the idea. David challenges David Jr. to eat a spoonful of sour cream, as he has an inexplicable aversion to white-colored food. He is unable to do so without regurgitating it. David accompanies Tamela to the hospital for her surgery, and she remarks that he is much more nervous about it than she is. The family waits anxiously as Tamela’s operation progresses. Eventually a doctor emerges into the waiting room to explain to the family why the surgery took longer than expected, although it appears to have been completely successful. David and the rest of the family go to see Tamela as she wakes up and they speak to her; she is tired and dazed but otherwise fine. They bring her home and she convalesces in bed, although she is eager to start walking again and work on her new album.

Meanwhile, David Jr. complains about his baldness and looks into various hair restoration techniques, starting with trying on wigs. His wife walks in on him and mocks him, asking him not to wear them. David soon becomes frustrated with having to cater to the recuperating Tamela. David Jr. contacts his uncle Melvin and gets him to use makeup to give him the appearance of having a thin layer of hair on his head. He reveals this to the rest of the family, who are confused, amused, and horrified by his appearance. However, David understands his son’s desire to have hair again and talks to him in private about the matter. David Jr. blames his father for his baldness, as several years ago he shaved his head on a bet. David has no response to this.

Tamela becomes increasingly demanding, causing tension between her and the rest of the family. David Jr. visits a hair restoration clinic to determine how to alleviate his baldness. A specialist there recommends a follicle transplant procedure. David Jr. is initially skeptical about the efficacy of such a procedure, but reconsiders when he sees before-and-after photographs. Tia challenges David to a car race in order to prove that she is a better driver than him; he accepts, wholly refuting her claims. Meanwhile, Tamela speaks to David Jr. and asks him to take her to the studio, although David Jr. is concerned about her and does not wish to endanger her recovery. However, she talks him into compliance and works with her producer to record some tracks. Her condition impedes her performance. David and Tia go to an indoor go-kart track in order to race each other, but his helmet makes him agitated due to his claustrophobia. Nevertheless, he manages to beat her in the race.

Tamela makes progress during her recording session, but David Jr. wants to get her back to the house before his father discovers her absence. They get stuck in traffic on the freeway, much to their consternation. They manage to get home just before David and Tia, and David Jr. attempts to stall them while Tamela gets changed and returns to her bed. It works, and he and Tamela do not arouse David’s suspicions. Later, David Jr. tells his wife about the visit to the hair restoration center and asks for her permission to go through with the procedure. However, she says that she loves him just the way he is, and this proves to be sufficient for him. David finds out about Tamela’s recording session and is upset that she concealed it from him, and she apologizes for not telling him sooner. David ends up forgiving her. Commercials deleted.
