KEY & PEELE: EAST/WEST BOWL RAP (TV)

Summary

One in this sketch comedy series, created by Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, focusing on societal themes and race issues. In this episode, Key and Peele offer intermittent on-stage commentary on such topics as: the infamous 1985 Chicago Bears rap video and why professional athletes are often very poor musicians; why black people love Mafia-related films despite their use of blatant racism; tales of racial profiling; and the annoying cinema experience of overhearing other patrons' clueless conversations about movies.

Pre-taped sketches include the following: an argument between two women that turns surreal as they remove their many fashion accessories; an embarrassing rap video and recording session involving the oddly-named members of two opposing football teams, in which they brag excessively about their athletic talents; a surprise birthday party for a mobster that goes horribly awry when he reacts to the shock with slow-motion, operatic gunfire; a man's disgust with his friend's "ratatouille," a personal chef who is also a rat; a mix-up at a CIA black site in which a "terrier-ist" is detained and aggressively interrogated for his so-called criminal activity; an installment of "Metta World News" with basketball player Metta World Peace; and two valets' exasperation with Batman's many unworthy opponents – not including the always-welcome Liam Neeson.
