HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER: SKANKS GET SHANKED (TV)
Summary
One in this series of legal dramas about a hard-nosed Philadelphia law professor who recruits her students to work in her firm – leading to their entanglement in a variety of ethically questionable schemes.
In this episode, four weeks before Annalise's shooting, she receives a call from Nia, Nate's wife, who is dying of ovarian cancer and wants Annalise's help in ending her pain. Elsewhere, Annalise works to defend Zoe Mitchell, accused of conspiring with two other girls, Molly and Megan, to murder her best friend Rachel. Connor observes that her argument of "brainwashing 101" is not unlike her own tactics with her students regarding Sam's death. Michaela is tasked with unearthing the truth about Caleb and Catherine's relationship. Bonnie grows increasingly curious as Asher, claiming to be ill, joins his father to make a deal with Sinclair regarding his murky past.
Annalise, still preoccupied by Nia's grim demand, tries to discredit prosecution witness Dr. Healy, who claims that Zoe has sociopathic and cult-like tendencies within her clique. Connor tries to empathize with Zoe about Megan and Molly's apparent bullying. Elsewhere, Wes begs Nate for information about the night of Rebecca's "disappearance" and, acting on his tip, tasks Levi — who is still seeing Michaela — with tracking down Sabrina Mancini. Michaela tries to win Caleb's trust by revealing her own background as an adoptee. Laurel growing increasingly suspicious of Zoe, steals her cell phone and shows Frank a disturbing video of Zoe, Molly, and Megan laughing about Rachel's death and considering another murder. Connor is disgusted when Annalise opts to bury the video for her client's sake. A curious Frank supplies Annalise with the fatal pills for Nia.
Michaela turns her attentions to Catherine, and Zoe's defense takes a serious hit when the prosecutor somehow gets ahold of the damning video. Annalise tells Nate about Nia's call, though not about her request. When Annalise tries to suggest that Molly was the sole mastermind of Rachel's death, as Rachel had dallied with her boyfriend, and Zoe the mere follower, both girls explode with rage and cause a scene in court. Annalise confronts Connor, who admits to handing over the video out of a desire to avoid yet more "blood on his hands"; Annalise coldly reminds him that he was a willing participant in the cover-up of Sam's death. Catherine undergoes a medical test confirming her virginity and therefore her lack of involvement with her adopted brother. Levi brings Wes to a cemetery to find "Sabrina." Annalise tells Nia that she's "not the woman she thinks she is" and cannot help her die. When Asher tells Bonnie of his belief that Nate killed Sam on Annalise's orders, Bonnie falsely confesses to Sam's murder herself. Annalise observes Nate and Wes' heated conversation about the untrustworthy Levi. In the future, as Annalise is rushed to the hospital, Michaela pays Caleb a would-be casual visit.
