EAST LOS HIGH: PLAYING WITH MY BALLS (TV)
Summary
One in this drama series about the lives of Latino teenagers at a fictional high school in East Lost Angeles.
Pedro does his best to endear himself to Vanessa on their date; she is still unaware of his true identity. At the Los Angeles County holding center, Rogelio is assaulted and stabbed by other inmates when they learn that he molested his daughter. Camila learns about this and tells Jesus, whom she is still sleeping with. She feels responsible for his predicament, although her mother says she no longer cares what happens Rogelio. It is implied that Rogelio died from his injuries. Ms. Alvarez learns about Ceci’s stand at the competition in Yuma and commends her for her actions. Blogger Perez Hilton learns about the story and contacts Jocelyn, asking to post her article about it on his website. He voices his support for East Los High. As a result, the Bomb Squad are invited to compete in the dance competition show “Dance Battle,” furthering their media exposure and giving them the chance to win ten thousand dollars as prize money. At the same time, Jocelyn asks Eddie if she and Daysi can make a film documentary about him and his undocumented status. He agrees, believing that the time has come for him to stand up for himself. In her excitement Ceci kisses Jacob, and he responds in kind.
Jocelyn interviews Eddie for her documentary and he discusses the difficulties of being undocumented, chiefly being unable to be completely honest with his loved ones. He takes the opportunity to apologize to Gina on camera, and she apologizes as well. This resolves their argument and they get back together. Ceci and Jacob act awkwardly around each other, unwilling to discuss their earlier encounter. Jacob says that the kiss was no big deal and Ceci concurs; they try to avert eavesdropping and teasing by the dance team. Jocelyn and Daysi interview Eddie’s mother, who talks about how it is difficult to get treatment for her diabetes due to her lack of health insurance, owing to her undocumented status. She also states that they cannot afford proper hospitalization and she does not trust the clinics that will treat her as she is afraid that she will inadvertently get herself and Eddie deported. Eddie assures her that things will be all right and that he admires her; she states she was inspired to tell the truth by his stand in Yuma.
Ceci tells Vanessa about her kiss with Jacob, and admits that she is frightened that Pedro might return and attack her again. Vanessa advises her to put aside her fears and move on with her life. Nicolas visits Andres; he is uneasy because part of his plea deal involves him testifying against Sergio and Marcos. His move to New York is actually a cover for his inclusion in the witness protection program, and he says that Camila is not coming with him as they originally planned. Refusing to testify could force him to spend years in jail. Nicolas informs Camila that the attack on Rogelio was a hit ordered by Jesus, and Jesus arrives, overhearing this. Nicolas and Jesus get into a fistfight, which ends when Jesus threatens Nicolas with a gun. This incident causes Camila to have second thoughts about her relationship with Jesus. Ceci speaks to Jacob alone and talks to him about her conflicted feelings towards him, especially after their long history together. He believes they should give it a chance and invites her out on a date; she accepts and they share another kiss.
Camila signs on as Liliana’s official associate producer and promises to live up to her expectations. Nicolas prepares to testify knowing that it means he will never be able to see his friends and loved ones again; he plans to testify against Jesus as well. The people sent to carry out the hit against Jesus are killed, but Sergio and Marcos order him to kill Nicolas before he can testify. That night, Ceci and Jacob return from their date, which seems to have gone well. Meanwhile, Vanessa goes on another date with Pedro and mentions that Ceci is on a date with Jacob, piquing his interest. Ceci realizes that her phone is out of power and decides to head home to recharge it. Pedro secretly steals Vanessa’s keys and leaves their date to go infiltrate it, hoping to encounter Ceci. Jacob asks if he can enter Ceci’s apartment, but she does not want to “rush” their relationship. Vanessa discovers that Pedro ran out on her and via his credit card discovers his true identity. She fails to get through to Ceci and calls Jacob instead, although he does not pick up when he sees that it is her. Pedro sneaks up on Ceci in the bathroom and tries to strangle her.
