TAXI: SHUT IT DOWN {PART 2 OF 2} (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about the employees of a New York City cab company.

In the second part of this two-part episode, the drivers are bewildered when the strike comes to an abrupt and successful end, with Louie uncharacteristically agreeing to all of their demands. When he boasts about that evening's "social engagement," Alex grows suspicious and rushes to Elaine's apartment. There, she sadly confirms that she has agreed to a date with their lecherous boss. Louie bursts in dressed to the nines, and Alex tries to question him about his "intentions" before he whisks a heavily clothed Elaine off to the Tide Pool, his favorite tropical-themed bar and grill.

At the restaurant, Louie and Elaine struggle through some pre-scripted conversation; Elaine downs several "monsoons" before Louie convinces her to tango with him. After several unpleasant hours, Louie escorts her home and is dismayed to observe her sense of relief, admitting that he wanted "one classy evening in his life" and hoped to change her mind about him. Elaine admits that she very nearly enjoyed herself at times. When she agrees to a good-night kiss, Louie takes advantage of the moment with full gusto. Includes commercials and promos. Both parts one and two can be found on B:08106.
