AMERICAN EXPRESS: GAS STATION {ADWEEK: BEST SPOTS
OF SEPTEMBER 1996}

Summary

In this commercial for American Express, Jerry Seinfeld is shown pulling into a gas station in a convertible sports car with an attractive blonde woman at his side. He proceeds to demonstrate his accurate gas pumping technique by pumping exactly twenty dollars worth of gas into his tank. Then, to spite the station attendant, he gives the pump a final squeeze and charges the bill on his American Express card. "Even at the gas station," says Seinfeld, "you can do more with the American Express card."
