FLIP WILSON SHOW, THE {TIM CONWAY, ROBERTA FLACK, BURT REYNOLDS} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of comedy/variety programs hosted by Flip Wilson. Guests include actor Burt Reynolds, comedian Tim Conway, and singer Roberta Flack.

Highlights of this program include: Wilson and Reynolds have an old-fashioned Western "shoot-out"; Wilson plays a disinterested TV repairman attempting to fix a state-of-the-art monitor in time for the climactic moments of an outer-space mission to Saturn, though both he and the president are more interested in watching a football game; the two crew members and co-owners of the "Titanic II," a "little jive tugboat," are besieged by a flamboyant pirate, Long John Plunder, who convinces his would-be victims to join his enterprise; Wilson interviews "Dag Herford," a drunken bullfighter played by Conway, who explains his methods for surviving in the ring; Conway, Wilson and Reynolds answer audience members' questions during the "Rap With the Stars" segment, addressing Reynolds' infamous Cosmopolitan magazine photo, his past as a stuntman and currently "hot" film career, whether Conway ever tires of comedy and if bachelors Reynolds and Wilson ever intend to marry; and a scene on a film set in which an exasperated German film director, finding that his leading lady is missing, hires a random woman off the street – the outrageous Geraldine – to stand in with "super sex symbol" Reynolds to film a love scene. Flack performs "Mr. Magic" and "Suzanne." Commercials deleted.
