LEAVE IT TO BEAVER: BEAVER SAYS GOODBYE (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about the Cleaver family -- Ward and June and their two sons, Wally and Theodore, known as "the Beaver."
The Cleavers consider moving and make an offer on a house in a nearby town. Beaver wavers between enthusiasm and reluctance at the idea. He tells his classmates and Miss Landers that he's moving, and most of them indicate that they will miss him. However, the next day Ward reveals that the owner accepted another offer on the house, so the Cleavers aren't moving after all. Beaver considers not telling his classmates, but they stage a surprise going-away party for him, complete with presents. Not wanting to reveal his unwitting deception, Beaver decides to keep the presents.
However, Larry visits the Cleavers and tells Ward about the party. Ward tells him that they're not moving, convincing Larry that Beaver has played a trick on the class. The Cleavers pull Beaver aside and confront him over keeping the presents. Ward doesn't blame Beaver for what happened but tells him it would be wrong to keep the presents under false pretenses. He leaves the decision in Beaver's hands. The next day, the other kids in Beaver's class taunt and insult him for his apparent trickery, but Miss Landers arrives and tells the children about the whole situation. Beaver has left their presents, mostly unopened, in the principal's office, and the kids are free to take them back. Thus Beaver removes the enmity they hold for him. The episode ends as Ward explains to Beaver why the other kids acted the way they did. Commercials deleted.
