SOAP {EPISODE 84 AND EPISODE 85} (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about the affluent Tates and their working-class relatives, the Campbells.
In this two-part episode, Jodie and Maggie visit a seedy bathhouse and learn from a shadowy informant that Wendy is being held captive in a "kung-fu fortress" in Malibu. Eunice, disappointed that her romance with Dutch is no longer "dangerous," decides to spice things up with him by recreating the famous beach scene from the movie "From Here to Eternity," though they are unfortunately overheard by the Major. Mary meets with Chester and reveals that he is Danny's biological father, adding that Danny, having been shot, desperately needs a kidney transplant from a blood relative. At home, Jessica finds El Puerco with a "lady of the night," but he protests that he is dallying with other women out of respect for her. He dismisses the idea that she, too, could have sexual desires, assuring her that such needs are solely "a man's thing"; and the two remain at a stalemate when she again refuses his offer of marriage.
Elsewhere, the mobsters' dignified business meeting is interrupted by a crazed, bat-wielding Burt, who attacks Tibbs for shooting Danny and ends up taking all of the gangsters hostage. Mary finds Jessica and, after gently straightening out her confusion about the kidney, nervously confesses that Chester is Danny's father. Despite the affair occurring before Jessica's marriage to Chester, the long-held secret leaves her feeling "totally, totally betrayed" by her sister. Jodie and Maggie sneak into the kung-fu fortress undercover, and Jodie is forced to fight a very large and intimidating man. Surprisingly, his "Vulcan neck pinch" does the trick and he emerges victorious. Then, the fortress leader informs them that Wendy is training to be a "ninja empress" and cannot leave, consequently throwing the two interlopers into the dungeon.
Mary visits Danny, who is equally shocked and angered by the news about Chester; Burt, now a hero for singlehandedly rounding up the entire crime syndicate, is introduced to the pompous governor and interviewed on the news. Burt modestly explains that he acted out of pure instinct to protect his family and simply "said no" to the criminals' dangerous behavior; the governor, impressed, declares that Burt will now head his "war on crime." Danny and Chester are prepared for the transplant surgery, and Danny tries to comfort his dad/uncle as Chester starts to panic over the risks of the procedure – before they are both swiftly knocked out by anesthesia. Commercials deleted.
