WHO'S THE BOSS?: IN SEARCH OF TONY {SIXTH SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of comedies about advertising executive Angela Bower and her live-in housekeeper -- former pro-baseball player Tony Micelli -- and their respective families. The family takes a trip to Jamaica; Tony's excitement soon becomes wearisome to the others. The trip is being paid for by Kyle, the hotel manager, in exchange for Angela's representation. Tony attempts to prevent Sam from going off on her own, but she reminds him that in a little under two years she'll be in college, and that Tony has to learn to let go eventually. Furthermore, Angela, Mona, and Jonathan go off on their own when Tony tries to have fun with them, leaving him sullen. An executive "headhunter" named Hank chats with Tony, telling him that he needs to stop putting off big decisions in his life, such as which major to pick in college. Tony grows increasingly concerned about his future and what direction he's heading in life. That night, Angela nearly drowns while skinny-dipping; she is saved by Kyle. Tony is outraged that she would go skinny-dipping and Angel is disgusted that he is more concerned with her nudity than the fact that she almost drowned. They try to convince each other that they're having more fun on their own than with each other, and vow to continue doing so for the duration of the trip. Soon they attempt increasingly ridiculous stunts, such as being shot out of a human cannonball in an attempt to prove their point. During a talent competition, Angela attempts to get back at Tony via a dance number, but Tony counters with a sand-dance routine, which appears to win over the crowd. Defeated, Angela and Tony sit down with each other, their feud quelled. Angela admits that Tony's influence over the past five years has allowed her to loosen up and get more fun out of life. Tony apologizes for not being concerned about her nearly drowning. Both of them admit that they need each other and kiss. However, Tony stops, saying he doesn't want to get too involved. He has been contemplating marriage, but is still uncertain of his future; he moved in with Angela to give Sam a better life, and since she's leaving Tony must re-think his priorities. However, he notes that whatever his future holds, he wants Angela to be in it. Angela says she understands. The episode ends as Tony has a daydream about rescuing Angela from drowning. Includes commercials.
