KNOTS LANDING: THE DELUGE (TV)

Summary

One in this night-time drama serial, spun off from the series "Dallas," about the residents of the small southern California community of Knots Landing. In this episode, Karen begins to suspect that Val may be right in thinking that her babies are still alive, though Mack is doubtful. Elsewhere, Paul dies of complications from his aneurysm, though Greg is unmoved when he hears the news. Gary tries to put the pieces together about Galveston's actions, but has little information. Karen asks Lilimae about Val's memories of the birth, trying to uncover the truth, but Lilimae says that Val must be allowed to move on in peace. Gary goes to Galveston's office and is surprised to meet his wife, Ruth. He tells her that he urgently needs to speak with Paul, and she non-committally agrees to pass on the message. Mack interrogates Jamison about Galveston, but gets nowhere definite. Joshua asks the reverend if he can open the show, and he delivers a powerful sermon about responsibility and avoiding what is "easy." Karen declares that she will continue looking for the truth about Val's babies and makes several phone calls, asking about her doctor, Ackerman.

Greg arrives at Paul's funeral and takes a ring from his hand, and when Ruth arrives, she is revealed as his mother. He is surprised to hear that she recently married Galveston, and she tries to entice him into taking part in Paul's "project," but he is highly skeptical. She says that "both" Galveston and Sumner were his fathers, and notes how much he loves power. As Mack continues investigating Galveston, Eric meets with a buyer interested in purchasing the car dealership. Joshua decides that he wants Cathy to sing on the television show with him, though she is unsure, and when Abby tells him that he cannot have an entire half-hour every week, he threatens to take his business elsewhere if he is "censored." At dinner, Val ponders writing a book about her family's life and Joshua tells the group about Cathy's TV singing, but she grows frustrated that he is pushing the idea on her. Abby speculates to Gary about Paul's plans, and at home, Karen and Mack wonder the same thing. Karen begins to grow suspicious of his so-called "research and development centers," considering that it may be related to the satellite plan and noting that "something creepy" is going on. Elsewhere, Greg meets with an old friend, and he explains that Galveston's plan does indeed involve the use of satellites to monitor government communication around the world. Greg again declines to get involved, but the man sternly tells him that "everybody" is counting on his assistance. Commercials deleted.
