DEGRASSI HIGH: BAD BLOOD: PART 1 (OF 2) {SEASON TWO PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The first of two programs on this asset. The second-season premiere in this half-hour Canadian series about the problems and adventures of adolescents who attend Degrassi High School, continuing from the junior high series of the same name. In the first installment of this two-part episode, Joey falls in love with a car and vows to buy it, despite not having nearly enough money. B.L.T. is unsure about breaking up with Michelle, though he has been secretly dating Cindy as well for some time. Mr. Radidge warns Dwayne that he is on probation and needs to behave, and he meets up with Tabi and Nick and shows them a photo of his new girlfriend, Penny, but they doubt that she exists. Lucy makes a video for L.D., who is in remission and is sailing around the world with her family, and she reveals that condom machines have been installed in the bathrooms. Dwayne and his friends give Joey a hard time in Special Ed class, ignoring his request for a truce, and later break into the condom machine to use them as water bombs to drop on Joey and his pals.
Joey, undeterred, shows the car to Snake and Wheels, determined to find the money somehow. When he finds that he cannot borrow it, however, he decides to raise the cash through a "stunt," and goes around asking everyone to bet him that he will walk through the cafeteria naked, and many students contribute their money. B.L.T. continues to avoid confronting Michelle, and Dwayne's friends tease him about his "fake" girlfriend. The students receive sexual education kits and learn that they will be attending a lecture on AIDS, and they react with exasperation, saying the disease only affects "homos and druggies." Dwayne and his friends hear about Joey's "unhygienic" plan and decide to rat him out, and as Joey steels his nerves and begins his naked stroll through the lunchroom, he is caught by Mr. Radidge. Later, Dwayne receives a call from Penny, who does in fact exist, and she tearfully tells him that she is HIV-positive and that he will need to be tested. Commercials deleted.
