WHAT'S MY LINE? {MYSTERY GUEST: ETHEL BARRYMORE} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of panel game shows in which celebrity panelists engage in witty banter as they try to guess the unusual occupations of the guests. In this episode, host John Daly presides over a panel which includes journalist Dorothy Kilgallen, publisher Bennett Cerf, actress Arlene Francis and comedian Hal Block. The panelists are permitted to meet and inspect the contestants prior to questioning, and are allowed one free guess each. Employing only yes-or-no questions, the panel first attempts to discover the "line" of Regife Westerby of South Dakota, who is a gold miner, and Bennett is eventually correct. Next up is Edward Kaczynski of New Jersey, who is a dog catcher, and Francis guesses correctly. After donning blindfolds, the panel attempts to discover the identity of this week's mystery guest, actress Ethel Barrymore, and Block gets the right answer. Finally, the panelists question Walter Biggs from New York City, who sells ether, but time runs out before they are able to discover his profession. Daly previews next week's guests, and the panel bids one another and the audience good night. Includes commercials.
