MARRIED . . . WITH CHILDREN: HOW GREEN WAS MY APPLE? (TV)

Summary

One in this series of comedy programs about the ever-dysfunctional Bundy family.

Al has his sights set on an apple tree in his yard that has recently begun to bloom. However, the apple he planned on picking is taken by Jefferson, who claims that it belongs to him since the limb of the tree was hanging over his side of the fence. Al claims the apple belonged to him and an argument breaks out. Marcy suggests they get a property line survey done and they agree. The property surveyor, whom Peg mistakes for Danny Partridge, charts out the property line and declares that the apple tree belongs to the D'Arcys. Al is unhappy with the results of the survey, thus beginning a war-like conflict between the Bundys and the D'Arcys.

First, Al commandeers part of the D'Arcy's yard while they lounge nude in their hot tub, declaring that it belongs to the Bundys as stated by the property line. The Bundys take advantage of the new space by seizing the D'Arcy's barbeque and launching golf balls into the hot tub. Jefferson responds by cutting off the Bundy's television cable, which runs over their yard. In retaliation, Al cuts the D'Arcy's phone line, which falls in the hot tub and electrocutes Marcy. Marcy and Jefferson then set up a toll booth with exorbitant prices at the end of Al's driveway, as their property line runs over it. Al's tires deflate when he runs over the spike strip the D'Arcy's planted on the driveway.

The Bundys call a building code inspector and deliberately insult him to provoke him into charging massive fines for the driveway, which they shunt over to the D'Arcys. Jefferson and Marcy respond by blowing up the driveway altogether. That night, as Marcy and Jefferson get intimate in bed, Al uses a huge jack to tilt the D'Arcy house, throwing it into chaos. Jefferson responds by blowing a hole in the side of the Bundy house with a rocket launcher. The two families are forced to camp out in their own yards. They attempt to call a truce to their feud, only for an apple to fall from the tree and begin the process all over again. Commercials deleted.
