DREW CAREY SHOW, THE: THE BACHELOR PARTY (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedies starring stand-up comedian Drew Carey as a single guy who attempts to juggle his romantic endeavors and his menial job at a Cleveland department store, while still maintaining his sense of humor. Drew and Nicki try to make a sex tape, but Nicki keeps laughing, interrupting the tape. She suggests labeling the tape "Fifty Misconceptions about Human Resources" so that no one will accidentally watch it. They are interrupted when Drew's parents call, announcing that they will be coming for the wedding tomorrow morning. They resume their attempt to film their sex tape. The next morning, Drew comes downstairs to greet his parents, Beulah and George, who are perfectly aware that he has apparently just slept with Nicki and are unconcerned. Nicki comes down and leaves, visibly uncomfortable. While Drew's father goes upstairs to masturbate, Oswald, Lewis, and Kate arrive to say hello. Oswald and Lewis are busy preparing for Drew's bachelor party that night. Once they have left, Drew tells his mother that he's calling off the wedding; she is crushed by the news. He says that something happened the previous night which changed his mind, but will give no details. She asks him not to tell George just yet; she reveals that he has been suffering from depression for months and won't be able to take the bad news. Steve arrives in women's clothing, determined to finally confess to his father that he is a cross-dresser. Beulah and Drew convince Steve to leave before he can. George comes down and nearly unwittingly puts in Drew's sex tape, but Drew manages to stop him. Beulah visits Drew's office to give him a gift, but finds Mimi instead. Mimi manages to get Beulah to confess that Drew has decided not to marry Nicki. Mimi is appalled at Beulah's suggestion that she might be the right woman for Drew. Drew's bachelor party begins and his father accompanies him. Drew tries to gently break the news of his cancelled marriage to his father, but can't bring himself to do it. Larry brings a collection of pornographic tapes, but all of them turn out to be gay pornography. Oswald, however, finds "Fifty Misconceptions about Human Resources" and Drew stops him from playing it before the assembled crowd. Lewis presents Oswald and Drew with collection jars filled with money as wedding presents. Drew refuses his and George tries to get him to change his mind. Finally Drew comes out and tells his father the bad news. He is somewhat shaken by the news, but he reveals that he mostly fabricated his depression to avoid doing yard work. However, George is stunned when Steve arrives in drag, finally revealing his cross-dressing. Drew's parents return to their home in Florida, and George seems to be dealing with Steve's reveal rather well. Alone, Drew reviews his sex tape with Nicki. The true reason for the wedding's cancellation is revealed: during the filming, Nicki saw herself naked in the monitor and became disgusted with herself. She says she blames Drew for her increase in weight and is filled with self-loathing. Drew watches in silence as the video shows Nicki give Drew his ring back and angrily shut off the camera. Includes commercials.
