HAPPY DAYS: GRADUATION {PART 1 OF 2} (TV)

Summary

The first of two programs on this asset. One in this series of comedies about life in the 1950s.

In this episode, Richie, Potsie and Ralph have lost the address where their band is scheduled to perform as part of a bar mitzvah. Unfortunately, the information is locked up in Fonzie's garage, and Fonzie can't be found anywhere. Finally, Marian reveals Fonzie's secret: he's attending night school at Jefferson High. After tracking Fonzie down, Ralph miraculously remembers the locale and the boys take off. Fonzie then confides to a fellow student that he's taking classes so he can graduate high school with Richie and his buddies.

The senior prom follows, with Howard and Marion chaperoning as Richie, Potsie, Ralph and their dates mix it up on the dance floor with their pals. Meanwhile, Al and his musicians serenade them. The guest of honor turns out to be Fonzie, who announces his intentions to graduate as the audience applauds. Fonzie feels so much joy that he forgives Marion for spilling the beans about his secret.

As the evening winds down, Vice Principal Conners takes the stage. He tells the entire class that he has regraded their final exam and is flunking everyone. The students only chance to graduate is by passing a new exam to be given the following morning. Everyone leaves the prom discouraged, as their party plans turn into an evening of cramming for the big test. Commercials deleted.

The storyline concludes in "The Graduation, Part 2." For synopsis and credits, see B:55875.
