ED, EDD, N EDDY: THE ED-TOUCHABLES/NAGGED TO ED {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The pilot of this animated series about a trio of boys who all share the same name and their various attempts to scam money from the neighborhood kids in their cul-de-sac. The first short, "The Ed-Touchables," begins when Eddy arrives at Edd's house in the midst of Edd labeling every object in his room. Edd is distressed to learn that his magnifying glass is missing, and believes that is has been stolen. They head over to Ed's house and find that his little sister Sarah is also missing her doll. Eddy believes that someone is stealing items across the cul-de-sac and makes an announcement to the rest of the neighborhood kids that he, Ed, and Edd can solve the mystery for a fee. They decide to set a trap which is eventually triggered by Jonny and Plank. They apprehend them and confine them in an improvised crime lab, where Edd has constructed an electronic lie detector. Eddy interrogates the two, and eventually gets Jonny to confess to the thefts after "torturing" Plank. They punish Jonny by rolling him around the street in a tire. However, Sarah arrives and reveals that she found her doll on her own, and Edd notes that he also located his magnifying glass, thus proving Jonny innocent. Eddy flees so that he and the other Eds can use their newfound money to purchase jawbreakers. However, Sarah gets revenge by rolling Jonny into the Eds, causing them to lose their jawbreakers. In the second short, "Nagged to Ed," Edd leads Eddy and Ed into the woods to catch insects, but things go awry when Ed manages to get himself stuck in a gigantic spider web. The Eds panic when they hear mysterious voices from the brush apparently calling their names, and frantically pull Ed from the webbing. They try to flee but eyes seem to follow them everywhere until they get themselves stuck in quicksand and fall unconscious. They awaken in a mobile home in the middle of the nearby trailer park wearing nothing but bathrobes. Soon they find they are in the clutches of the Kanker sisters, May, Marie, and Lee, who are new in town. Edd becomes uncomfortable with their amorous advances, but Eddy decides to stay and enjoy their hospitality for a while. While exploring the mobile home, the Eds discern from drawings on the wall that the Kankers are already aware of their identities and that each one has a crush on one of them: May on Ed, Marie on Edd, and Lee on Eddy. This distresses the Eds somewhat, but their fears are forgotten when the Kankers serve them dinner. However, the Kankers quickly become frustrated with the Eds' lack of appreciation, and in retaliation force them to do their housework. Eddy becomes angry at the Kankers, seemingly hurting their feelings. Soon they frighten the Eds into fleeing the trailer park, although they are still infatuated with them. Commercials deleted.
