OZ: REVENGE IS SWEET (TV)

Summary

One in this series of dramas set in the Oswald Maximum Security Penitentiary, nicknamed "Oz."

In this episode, Redding is released from his cage after being framed for the murder of stranded refugee Bian, for which he instantly knows Morales to be guilty. Alvarez secures his release from solitary by offering to be Glynn's informant, though Morales instructs Alvarez to kill Redding to prove his loyalty. Nathan announces a bizarre medical trial in which inmates can volunteer to take a new drug that will, in theory, cause them to rapidly age the number of years to which they are sentenced, thus reducing prison populations. The inmates debate the risks and rewards of the drug, and Howell demands sexual favors from Ryan, threatening to go after his brother if he refuses. Cyril gets into a fight and is dragged off to the hospital, and McManus, still awaiting his date with Nathan, wonders if Cyril should be transferred. Ryan begs Nathan to get him into the clinical trial, despite the fact that only inmates eligible for parole are allowed to test the drug. Despite McManus' strong protests, he is one of the ten selected to take the aging pill – or possibly a placebo.

Hill purposefully sabotages his nemesis Jackson Vahue's shot at parole by contacting his former victim and urging her to speak against him; Sister Reimondo gently tells Giles that he is being sent to Death Row for killing a fellow inmate. Said, unaware that Tidd is working for the Aryans, has a change of heart and allows him to convert to Islam and join his gang. Schillinger, however, decides to abandon his vendetta against Said, and Robson angrily confronts Reverend Cloutier for pacifying their ruthless leader with his teachings. Carrie is surprised when Schillinger urges her to seek out Cloutier's former parish for any help she may need, and Reimondo is equally taken aback when he opens his "interaction" with Beecher with a reading from scripture. Cloutier refuses a sexual offer from a flirtatious new prisoner, Timmy Kirk, and Busalis begs for permission for a jailhouse wedding to Norma, swearing that he will never attempt another escape. McManus relents, and Busalis hurriedly tries to fill in the new tunnel he has been digging – but he hits a water line and is thrown back into solitary, his marital hopes now dashed.

Glynn is impressed with Floria's hard work in redecorating his office and securing a divorce attorney, though he then is annoyed to learn from Querns that former C.O. Hughes is being returned to Oz to live on the "cop unit." Governor Devlin, still on the mend from being shot by Hughes during the riot, makes a triumphant return to Oz, and though Glynn tells Howell to protect Hughes, he soon finds himself in a fight with Basil and new inmate Alvin Yood. Basil sadly admits that he is too ashamed to see his wife and daughter while in prison, and Keller grows jealous when he learns of Beecher's dalliance with Barlog. The Feds offer to reduce Barlog's sentence if he will testify about Keller's past murders of various young men, and Keller, learning of the deal from Beecher, seduces and then coldly murders Barlog.
