LAVERNE & SHIRLEY: THE BRIDAL SHOWER (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about two young working women, following their humorous adventures from the 1950s through the 1960s.
In this episode, Carmine tells Laverne and Shirley about the pending nuptials of their old friend Elinor Stefanik, making them the last two unmarried members of the Angora Deb Club. After being invited to Elinor's bridal shower, they decide against going as it's to be held at the apartment of their old rival, Rosie Greenbaum. Finally, Edna guilts them into attending.
As soon as they enter Rosie's apartment, their host begins baiting them, telling them how her doctor husband just bought her a fox stole. The pair feel even worse after seeing the now-glamorous Eleanor, who successfully lost more than 100 pounds. As Shirley fights jealousy after looking at everyone's pictures of their children, the ever spiteful Rosie calls Laverne "a bimbo." Laverne responds by putting Rosie's stole in the punchbowl.
As the two prepare to square off, Rosie calls a halt, but continues her snarky remarks. Laverne and Shirley then turn the tables by pretending to be "on edge" about having to choose from so many suitors. The other women soon realize that married life has its drawbacks. Ultimately, Eleanor proves the voice of reason, after which the group reunites with a chorus of the old Angora Debs Club song. Includes commercials.
