Summary
The seventh season finale in this series of comedies about Dick and Joanna Loudon, who run a country inn in Vermont.
In this episode, Dick is baffled when Larry and the Darryls claim that famed television host Johnny Carson pays their gas bill. When Stephanie returns from yet another unsatisfactory date, she and Michael decide to find new partners for one another, as they are now such good "friends" post-breakup. They head to the mall, where they "interview" and quickly reject a series of passersby, including several of Michael's bag-boy pals. At the end of the day, Stephanie is taken aback when Michael meets and bonds with his "dream girl," the ditzy and shallow Jennifer.
Dick remains skeptical of the Carson tale, and Michael, content with Jennifer, happily thanks his "ex-cupcake" for helping him to find love again. Jennifer fails to turn up for the next date, however, and Stephanie arrives and admits that she intervened in their plans, feeling that Jennifer is not good enough for her ex. They begin squabbling about their respective flaws, as usual, but they soon admit that they still love one another. Back at the inn, Dick and Joanna are shocked when the happy couple returns and announces that they have not only reunited but eloped. Dick is further humbled when Larry and the Darryls return along with the real Johnny Carson, who scolds the "yahoo" for not believing his friends' claim. Commercials deleted.
