CHEERS: SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRED (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about a group of regulars at a Boston bar. In this episode, Rebecca delights the patrons by announcing that she will soon be installing a large state-of-the-art television, and Lilith arrives with her disturbingly similar childhood friend Dorothy in tow. Carla begs Sam to come over for dinner so that she and Eddie might "practice their social skills," though when Sam arrives at the LeBecs, he finds that the family has a very "survival of the fittest" approach to food. The pleasant evening goes quickly south when Carla's son Anthony announces that his girlfriend Annie is pregnant, and Carla flies into a rage, sure that they are too young and that she herself is not ready to be a grandmother, lamenting that she will now miss out on her middle age as she did her teenage years.

Frasier struggles with his boredom as Lilith and Dorothy continue "bonding," and Rebecca, desperate to get her star waitress back, wonders how best to cheer up a despondent Carla. Lilith agrees that "recreating rituals of youth" can have a positive psychological effect, and she, Dorothy and Rebecca decide to surprise Carla with a teenager-ish slumber party. Eddie, worried about her depressed state, pushes her to enjoy herself, though Carla is entirely uninterested in the other women's ideas for childish fun and "madcap pranks." Back at the bar, the men realize that they need Carla back to hook up the new television, as Woody surely cannot master the necessary skills, and they arrive at her apartment to help her recreate her lost youth. Carla finally loses her temper with her friends and points out that they cannot "make her fifteen again," ordering them to leave and allow her to process her feelings. On the way out, however, Cliff provides her with some unintentional amusement. Commercials deleted.
