GEORGE LOPEZ: THE SHOW DYSLEXIC (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series, set in Los Angeles, in which comedian George Lopez plays family man "George Lopez." In this episode, Ernie arrives at the Lopezes', announcing that he has finally moved out of his parents' home after a disagreement over his latest girlfriend, and George reluctantly allows him to stay. Angie and George discover that Max's teacher has requested a meeting with them, and when they arrive at the school, Mrs. Wilder informs them that Max is falling behind and is likely dyslexic. She recommends special-education classes, but George immediately refuses, saying that Max will be mocked by the other children. Back at home, Ernie struggles to "parent" his girlfriend's multiple children and George catches Angie quizzing Max on his letters, having clearly taken the teacher's words to heart. When George states that Max merely needs to work harder, Angie points out that he is probably dyslexic too.

George denies Angie's claim, though he soon encounters trouble at work when he fails to get through an important written report, and Benny reveals that George's teachers gave her similar warnings when he was young, though she naturally ignored them, also feeling that George would be humiliated in a special class. Ernie realizes that he is exhausted from his role as "dad" and must break up with his girlfriend, and George informs an annoyed Max that they both have reading troubles and that he, Max, will be taking the special-ed classes after all, as George does not want him to struggle long-term. Angie agrees to help George with his own "homework," and father and son soon attempt some unconventional methods of learning together. Commercials deleted.
