GEORGE LOPEZ: BRINGING HOME THE BACON (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series, set in Los Angeles, in which comedian George Lopez plays family man "George Lopez." In this episode, Carmen happily prepares for her quinceañera, though George, still out of work because of the investigation, tells Angie that they cannot afford the fancy party. Angie refuses to cancel, pointing out that it is a very important moment in a young Latina girl's life, and Benny mocks George for his lack of assertiveness when he finds that he cannot overrule his wife. Carmen works on her introductory speech, wondering how best to acknowledge Jason's role in her life, and George cautions Angie not to "go overboard" for the party, though soon finds that she is planning a lavish nautical theme, complete with seahorse dancers.
Benny reveals that Jack Powers was spotting "going on the lam," suggesting that the factory – and George's job – are gone for good, though Angie urges them not to jump to conclusions. At the quinceañera, Angie welcomes the guests and publicly thanks George for his "emotional support," to which he takes offense, feeling that he has been devalued as a financial provider. She convinces him that they are a "team," however, and Carmen thanks her parents for their sacrifices, though she also makes a dramatic declaration of love to Jason, causing him to flee in panic. Ernie then excitedly tells George that the factory investigation is over and pilot error has been blamed, meaning that they can return to work, and George reacts with jubilation, glad to again be the "hunter" for his family. Later, he urges Carmen to give Jason some space and allow him to process his feelings, and an annoyed Angie reminds George that they are still a "team," regardless of who brings in more money. Back at the party, George amuses himself with the seahorse dancers, determined to get their full money's worth. Includes commercials and promos.
