GREY'S ANATOMY: PHYSICAL ATTRACTION ... CHEMICAL REACTION (TV)
Summary
One in this dramatic medical series about the lives and loves of a group of surgeons at a Seattle hospital. In this episode, Richard and Derek continue their odd trailer-neighbor friendship, and Hahn, not interested in working with Cristina, "steals" Meredith from Mark for the week. George and Izzie both confide to Meredith that their blossoming romance has been highly awkward and unpleasant so far, and Callie, over her heard with chief resident duties, asks Bailey to "be her" for a little while. Alex attempts to help Jerry, an ill-tempered patient whose bowel resection hasn't yet produced results, and Cristina, frustrated by Hahn's rejection, rushes to help Teresa Brotherton, a young woman who tumbled down the stairs along with her baby. George treats young Brian, who purposefully swallowed a marble to blackmail his endless squabbling parents into divorcing.
Teresa's husband Sean arrives, explaining that their newly adopted daughter doesn't have a name yet, and when Hahn steals Mark's OR for Teresa's surgery, he agrees with Cristina that she's "pushy and rude." Lexie frets about Meredith's reaction to her one-night stand with Alex in their shared him, and Bailey continues covering Callie's duties as George and Izzie's latest attempt to have a "fantasy" night together goes awry. Cristina grudgingly accepts a role on Callie's ortho service, and Meredith, uninterested in Lexie's apologies, tries to reassure a fretful Sean. Izzie attempts to help Harriet, Mark's pessimistic facelift patient, and when the busy interns have an "administrative traffic jam," Bailey again takes charge and advises them all. Brian returns, having this time swallowed dangerous magnets, and Bailey hurries to operate on his perforated bowel. Izzie puts Jerry and Harriet in the same room in the hopes that they will annoy one another into leaving, and Mark, admiring Hahn's work, tries to tempt Cristina into considering plastics.
Nosy Richard catches Meredith and Derek together as George and Izzie try to have a "fun" evening, and Meredith finally "forbids" Lexie and Alex's casual relationship. Izzie is stunned when Jerry and Harriet hit it off very well indeed, and Brian's mother sadly agrees that she and her husband need a break. Mark is amused by Derek and Richard's "lovers' quarrel," and Richard soon demotes Callie, having realized that Bailey is doing all of the chief resident work. Meredith assures a worried Sean that he will soon bond with his infant daughter, and when Teresa dies on Hahn's table, he struggles to accept his new life as a single father. Lexie awkwardly tries to bond with her half-sister, prompting Meredith to lift her "ban" on her dating Alex, and Hahn coolly assures Mark that he's only interested in her because of her talent and her total disdain for him. Richard admits that he needs to work on his life skills as a new bachelor, and Lexie is embarrassed when Alex, all too familiar with addict parents, encounters her alcoholic father Thatcher at home. Elsewhere, George and Izzie are forced to face their lack of chemistry. Includes commercials and promos.
