PHIL HENDRIE SHOW, THE {TAPE 2 OF 2} (RADIO)
Summary
Continued from R:21451. Tape two of two. One in this comedic radio call-in series that looks at topical issues through the eyes of different characters, all of whom are creations of multi-voiced host Phil Hendrie. In the first section of this tape, Hendrie devotes a half an hour to discussing cruel jokes that adults play on children to watch them squirm. This entire segment is done "straight," that is; he doesn't employ one of his many character voices when relating anecdotes or fielding calls. The final segment of the show, however, is "guest hosted" by R.C. Collins (Hendrie), a senior at Chatsworth High School who fills in for Hendrie occasionally with his show "The Teen Point of View." Collins devotes his time this week to interviewing guest Chris Norton (Hendrie), a dimwitted Lothario who slurs his speech and boasts of his many sexual conquests. The topic of Collins' show is virginity -- so, says Collins, he thought he'd bring on the person he knows who "gets the most stuff." Norton explains that he lost his virginity when he was thirteen years old and has since gone on to sleep with 7,000 or 8,000 women. (This figure swells to over 10,000 by the end of the program). He explains that he cannot really give advice to Collins or his friends, however, as he views his virile good looks as a gift from heaven. Several calls from repulsed and disbelieving listeners follow. Includes commercials.
