FRANK SINATRA SHOW, THE {DANNY KAYE} (RADIO)
Summary
One in this weekly series featuring the crooning of popular singing idol Frank Sinatra. This is an edited version of a program that originally ran on April 25, 1945, on CBS. Sinatra begins with renditions of "Good, Good, Good" and "Laura." He then exchanges banter with announcer Bill Goodwin, who explains that he is in a particularly good mood this evening. "Frank, nothing you say tonight is going to bother me," declares Goodwin, "because I heard that our guest star tonight is a gorgeous blonde." Sinatra tells the announcer that he is about half right, that their talented guest is blond comedian Danny Kaye. After a brief skit in which Kaye impersonates Goodwin imitating Kaye, Kaye delivers a bit of his signature comedic scat. Sinatra then sings "Lonely Love," "Lulu's Back in Town," and "Candy," joined in the last by the Ken Lane singers. Following these tunes, Goodwin announces the lengthy skit that will conclude the program, a joint biography of "two of Hollywood's youngest stars," Sinatra and Kaye, who are portrayed as having grown up next door to each other. After the skit visits them at various ages, the two recall their first exposure to Vaudeville, in which they saw Bing Crosby and Bob Hope perform. In a loose medley of songs and comedy, Sinatra and Kaye proclaim themselves "The Number Two Boys in the Land." Commercials deleted.
