KRLA BEATLES DOCUMENTARY (RADIO)
Summary
This documentary features deejay Dave Hull's interviews with the Beatles and footage of the Fab Four in concert at the Hollywood Bowl in California. In interview segments -- taped backstage in Las Vegas and before and after the Hollywood Bowl concert -- Hull queries the Liverpudlians on the following topics, among others: their trip to Los Angeles; their favorite segments of the film "A Hard Day's Night"; the racehorse Paul McCartney bought for his father; Ringo Starr's tonsillitis; their thoughts about American commercial radio; and the effusive reaction of American teens during their shows. The following songs, among others, are heard from the Hollywood Bowl concert: "Twist and Shout," "You Can't Do That," "All My Loving," "She Loves You," "Roll Over Beethoven," "Can't Buy Me Love," "If I Fell," "I Want to Hold Your Hand," "A Hard Day's Night," and "Long Tall Sally." Following the concert segment, Hull reports on the swift getaway operation that whisked the Beatles out to the freeway by limousine seconds after they departed the stage; and new KRLA reporter Jim Steck comments on his contribution to the escape. Includes commercials. This program contains minor technical problems. This represents the best copy of this program currently available to the Paley Center.
