WORLD SERIES, 1956: GAME 3, PT. 1 OF 3 {BROOKLYN DODGERS AT NEW YORK YANKEES} (RADIO)

Summary

Part one of three. "The Gillette Cavalcade of Sports" features live coverage of the third game of the 1956 World Series between the New York Yankees and the Brooklyn Dodgers from Yankee Stadium. This broadcast opens with "The World Series Warm-Up," in which Harry Wismer and Washington Senators manager Charlie Dressen preview the game. Topics discussed include the outcome of the series thus far, the fact that the Dodgers are leading two games to none, and the effects that a change of venue could have on both teams. "The Gillette Cavalcade of Sports" begins with announcers Bob Wolff and Bob Neal discussing the player changes that managers have made for this game. Whitey Ford, pitching for the Yankees, strikes out two of the first three Dodgers he faces. Roger Craig, pitching for the Dodgers gives up only a bunt single to Mickey Mantle. In the second inning, Jackie Robinson walks, moves to second on a single by Gil Hodges, and moves to third and home on successive sacrifice flies, scoring a run for the Dodgers. Charlie Neal pops up, ending the inning. Billy Martin ties the game in the bottom of the inning with a solo home run. Includes commercials. Continues with R:8706.
