SEALTEST PROGRAM STARRING RUDY VALLEE, THE (RADIO)

Summary

One in this series of comedy/variety programs hosted by Rudy Vallee. As the show begins, Vallee, guest star Orson Welles, and series regular John Barrymore trade joking insults, most of which concern Vallee's long radio career and Welles's reputation as a "boy wonder." A comedy sketch about network radio follows. "What's What in Kilowatt," set at a broadcast studio and featuring Barrymore as an irate, meddlesome program sponsor, with Welles and Vallee as all the on-air personalities, parodies typical radio commercials and programs. Individual targets include an early-morning exercise show, a talk show featuring a saccharine, folksy philosopher-poet (Welles), a soap opera, popular music shows, a children's adventure serial, news bulletins, and a quiz show (hosted by Barrymore). In the course of the program, Vallee sings "You and I" and "How Great Is My Love." Includes commercials for Sealtest dairy products.
