BONANZA: THE LAST VOTE (TV)

Summary

One in this long-running western drama series about widower Ben Cartwright, his sons, and their adventures on their ranch in Nevada's Ponderosa. In this episode, Little Joe and Hoss, prompted by a dare, support political rivals in the contest for mayor of Virginia City. Although the two candidates, Phineas Burke and Titus Simpson, seem indifferent to the outcome of the election, the meddlesome Cartwright brothers fuel the flames of animosity. Joe and Hoss transform a casual competition between old friends into a violent dispute that disrupts established loyalties and leaves chaos in its wake. When the votes are tallied and the outcome is a tie, Ben is asked to break the stalemate. He finds an equitable solution that teaches his sons a lesson and reconciles Burke and Simpson as well.
