JACKIE GLEASON SHOW, THE {THE HONEYMOONERS: PLASTERED IN PARIS} (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy/variety series featuring Jackie Gleason. In this special series of musical-comedy sketches based on "The Honeymooners," bus driver Ralph Kramden, his wife, Alice, and their friends Ed and Trixie Norton have won a trip around the world in a contest held by the Flakey Wakey cereal company. In this sketch, the world travelers arrive in Paris and fall into trouble when they unknowingly spend counterfeit money. As the sketch opens, special guest Martyn Green performs "Coming to Paris" with The June Taylor Dancers, while the staff of a Paris hotel express excitement about the upcoming arrival of "rich Americans." When the foursome arrive at the hotel, Ralph cannot resist acting as if he is rich. He and Ed are especially excited when a member of the hotel staff informs them that he can get a special exchange rate for their American money. Convinced that they are getting a terrific deal, Ralph and Ed give Alice and Trixie money for a shopping spree while the men go to see "Paree" and spend some of their counterfeit francs. The foursome sing several songs, including solos, duets and quartets. Includes commercials for Old Gold cigarettes and Bulova watches.

(Series title varies; "The Jackie Gleason Show" from 1952-1961 and 1966-1970; "Jackie Gleason and His American Scene Magazine" from 1962-1966. "The Honeymooners" spin-off replaced the variety series 1955-1956.)
